Repentance is the key to real life change. When we repent we acknowledge our sins and reject them. We choose to change, to live differently, and we open the door to receive God’s forgiveness.
With God’s help, repentance is the beginning of a wonderful new life. Let’s look at four verses that can help us understand how important it is repent of our sins and receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.
1. Repentance brings life
Sin leads to death but repentance leads to life. When we repent and believe in Jesus as our Savior we receive forgiveness and eternal life. Repentance frees us from death!
2. It is the cure for sin
Sin is like a disease that infects and destroys us. But repentance is the first step to healing. Jesus is the doctor who saves the life of everyone who repents.
3. Forgiveness and the Holy Spirit
God forgives everyone who repents and gives them a special blessing: the Holy Spirit. When we repent we are saved and receive the Holy Spirit into our hearts. He guides us and teaches us to live for God.
4. The Kingdom draws near
The Kingdom of Heaven is getting closer. And only he who is saved can enter it. Repentance opens the door to eternity for us so that we can enjoy all of God’s goodness and justice.
If you haven’t repented of your sins yet, don’t put it off until tomorrow.
