You will love God above all things

God’s commandment to “Love God above all else” is the first and most important of the Ten Commandments. This commandment calls us to love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds. It tells us that God should be our first love. We must love him more than anything else in this world.

How can we love God above all things?

In John 15:12-13, Jesus said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, that one lay down his life for his friends ».

God loves us so much that he gave us his only begotten Son so that we can have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world so that we can be saved by him. We must love God above all things. What does love God mean?

Love is an act of the will. We must do what God asks of us. We must love our neighbor as ourselves. (Matthew 22:39) We must forgive those who offend us. (Luke 17:3-4) We are to give generously. (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Love is an attitude. We must have an attitude of love towards God and towards our neighbor. We must be kind, merciful and compassionate. (Luke 6:36) We must love our enemies and pray for them. (Matthew 5:44)

Love is a commitment. We must commit to following Christ. We must leave everything we have and follow him. (Luke 14:33) We must love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, with all our minds, and with all our strength. (Mark 12:30)

We can love God in many ways. We can pray, read the Bible, go to church, give money to those in need, help others, forgive those who hurt us, and do what he asks of us. (1 John 3:23)

Love is a choice. We must decide to love God above all things. We must put him first in our lives. (Luke 10:27)

What does it say in Matthew 22 36?

And when Jesus came, he said to them: All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go, and teach me all the Gentiles, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all the things that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the world. Amen”.

In Matthew 22:36, Jesus tells his disciples that he has given them all power in heaven and on earth, and that therefore they must go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son And of the holy spirit. He also tells them that he will be with them every day until the end of the world.

The Bible teaches us that we must love God above all things. This means that our love for God must be the greatest and deepest love that we have. We must put God first in our lives and follow his commandments.
