How to Receive God’s Blessing

Through the word we can know how God’s blessing is received to have the necessary tools that allow us to cope with day to day and face adversity. The Lord has promised us blessings from on high that give us encouragement in difficult moments in our lives.

However, blessing is often confused with success or prevention of problems, which is why many think that if we are believers and trust in God, we will not have conflicts to face. Which is false, as we can see in the Bible, the great prophets had many tests on their way but they never broke their faith, such as Abraham, Jonah, Moses, David, among others.

Currently there are religious movements that distort the word and use it to manipulate believers, making them believe that if they read the word and say the verses from memory, nothing bad will happen to them.

However, the children of God can face very difficult tests that they can only overcome if they fully trust God, and after this storm calm will come and we will obtain the learning to continue growing in the Lord.

In this sense, phrases such as “the blood of Christ has Power”, “I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me”, “I cover myself with the blood of Christ” are often used to think that we are quickly protected by God.

You can also misuse the Bible by leaving it open to Psalm 91 in your living room for protection.

On the other hand, it should be understood that the terms “blessing and success” are not similar. In the light of the world, the work of Christ failed with his capture and death. But his resurrection turned out to be a true blessing, since he blessed us and gave us the opportunity to be saved.

The children of God who are faithful and trust his word, also get sick, have problems and die, but we cannot deny the blessings they received from the Lord.

But how the blessing of God is received, we must understand that the blessing refers to the accompaniment that God gives us so that when we are in the midst of the storm, our boat, which is life itself, can stay afloat.

This can be seen in the following biblical quote:

“Blessed is the man who did not take the counsel of evil,

Nor was he in the way of sinners,

Not even in a chair of mockers has he sat down;

But in the law of the Lord is his delight,

And on his law he meditates day and night.

He will be like a tree planted by streams of water,

That bears its fruit in its season,

And its leaf does not fall;

And whatever he does shall prosper.

Not so the bad ones

That they are like the chaff that the wind snatches away.

Therefore, the wicked will not rise in the judgment,

Nor sinners in the congregation of the just.

For Jehovah knows the way of the righteous;

But the path of the wicked will perish.”

(Psalm 1)

In this way, even if we walk on a dangerous path that threatens our peace and even our lives, we can be sure that God will help us overcome obstacles and guarantee us victory. But the Lord does not promise that our life will be free of problems, but rather that the result will manifest his glory and serve as a great blessing for the believer.

The bible is not a blessing charm

As previously mentioned, the word of God has been used to manipulate and make us believe things that are not. This is due to the lack of wisdom and understanding of God’s teachings, where he tells us about the importance of believing and trusting God above all things.

Therefore we must not fall into deception, since these tricks were used by Satan himself when he tried to tempt Jesus Christ, citing Psalm 91 “He has given orders to his angels to keep you in his ways” where he tells him to jump head first from the eaves of the temple, knowing that if he did he would die instantly.

You can read:

In this way, God cannot be tempted nor can his word be used as an amulet of salvation, since conviction and trust in Christ is within our hearts. If we walk hand in hand with Jesus Christ, we can be sure that he will give us the strength to overcome trials and be able to face those situations that sometimes cannot be avoided.

You must remember that we are not in control of all things and that God’s will is perfect. Sometimes we fail to understand his designs, but his purpose in our lives will come true if we faithfully believe in him.

In this sense, the blessing of God is not avoiding battles, winning the lottery, having a perfect life, but it refers to the certainty that whatever happens, God will always be there to strengthen us. The blessing of God is to know that Christ is on the same journey and watches over our well-being and encourages us to keep going and keeps us from the temptation to jump into the water when the time of affliction arrives.

What must we do to receive God’s blessing?

Everyone mostly wants to get the best of God, have health, money and love. But we must reflect on the way we are living, if our life is pleasing to God.

So sometimes we can forget the importance of blessing in our life, since God has given us the ability to bless others, our family and loved ones. But the lack of knowledge often leads us to attract the bad with our bad words and thoughts.

The blessing of God brings the graces of the Lord, peace, joy and his favors, and is one of the promises that appear in the Bible, as observed in this passage: “Not returning evil for evil, or insult for insult, but rather blessing, because you were called for the purpose of inheriting a blessing.” (1 Peter 3:9)

In this sense, these promises must be accompanied by the conviction that they are for us and that we will receive blessings from on high. All people want to be blessed in all aspects of their lives.

But it all depends on us. In this quote you can appreciate the way in which we must act to achieve all the blessings that God has for us: “In short, be all of the same feeling, compassionate, loving each other fraternally, merciful, friendly.” (1 Peter 3:8)

In this sense and according to this biblical quote we must be as follows:

  • of the same feeling
  • have compassion
  • Have love for our neighbor
  • be merciful
  • show us kind

These characteristics represent the character of Jesus. Therefore God commands us to follow the example of Christ and be similar to him. As seen in this quote: “For the eyes of the Lord are upon the just, and his ears are attentive to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” (1 Peter 3:12)

In this verse it can be seen that if we harbor evil in our hearts, God will not bless us, since only those with a good heart will receive the blessings from above, as the word says: “having a good conscience, so that in what they murmur about you as evildoers, let those who slander your good conduct in Christ be put to shame.” (1 Peter 3:16)
