15 verses of encouragement to face the challenges of life

Life presents us with challenges on a daily basis and sometimes it is difficult to remain encouraged, with the desire to move forward and fight until the obstacle is overcome. How good to know that we can find words of encouragement in the Bible! God knows us, and in his divine mercy he gives us words that encourage us to move forward, to trust regardless of the difficulties we are going through.

Meditate on these verses and trust. Remember that you are not alone!

1. Don’t be afraid!

So do not fear, because I am with you; do not worry, because I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
(Isaiah 41:10)

How good to know that the Lord does not abandon us! Do not be afraid or distressed. The Lord accompanies you, strengthens you and helps you. His right hand holds you firmly and in him you have victory.

2. Remember the promise

Fight the good fight of faith; make eternal life yours, to which you were called and for which you made that admirable declaration of faith before many witnesses.
(1 Timothy 6:12)

We are in a battle and we need to keep our eyes on what is already ours: eternal life. Don’t let the daily struggles distract you so that you forget that because of your faith in Jesus, victory and eternal life are yours.

3. Our help comes from God

God is our shelter and strength, our sure help in times of distress. Therefore, we will not fear even if the earth crumbles and the mountains sink to the bottom of the sea; though its waters roar and rage, and the mountains tremble at its fury.
(Psalm 46:1-3)

Remember that even in the midst of the most painful and disconcerting situations, God is with you. He strengthens you and does not abandon you, even if everything around you seems to collapse. He is your shelter!

4. God renews your strength

Even the young get tired, weary, and the boys stumble and fall; but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will fly like eagles: they will run and not tire, they will walk and not tire.
(Isaiah 40:30-31)

Regardless of your age, you are a human being who is exhausted not only physically, but also emotionally and spiritually. How nice to know that if you trust in the Lord you can receive new strength. The renewal of strength that the Lord gives you has no equal. Sometimes it will even seem like you can fly!

5. Meditate on his word, obey and enjoy his company

Always recite the book of the law and meditate on it day and night; carefully carry out everything that is written in it. This way you will prosper and be successful. I have already commanded you: be strong and brave! Do not be afraid or discouraged! For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
(Joshua 1:8-9)

Fill your mind with the Word of God! Don’t let problems obsess you. Meditate on the promises of the Father and obey his direction. You will see that by filling your mind with his thoughts your attitude changes and you will be able to feel his company and presence.

6. You can resist if you are prepared

Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, so that when the evil day comes, you can stand firm to the end.
(Ephesians 6:13)

God, in his immense wisdom, gives us everything we need to resist and win on the bad day. We are the ones who must learn to use the tools and indications that he left us in his Word. Learn to wear the armor of God and claim the authority you have in him. This way you will get the victory on the bad day.

7. You are not alone

The Lord himself will go before you and be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
(Deuteronomy 31:8)

Surely it encourages you to know that you have the presence of God! Not only that, be certain that in the midst of struggles God does not hide, but rather he goes before you, fighting for you and with you.

8. You can turn to the Lord at any time

Impregnable tower is the name of the Lord; the righteous run to it and are saved.
(Proverbs 18:10)

When the situation is so desperate that you just want to run, run to the Lord! He is a strong tower, in his arms you will find protection and salvation.

9. He takes care of you at all times and in all places

The Lord is the one who takes care of you, the Lord is your protective shadow.
By day the sun will not harm you, nor the moon at night.
The Lord will protect you; from all evil will protect your life.
The Lord will watch over you at home and on the road, now and forever.
(Psalm 121:5-8)

Be it day or night and wherever you are, the Lord watches over you and protects you. There is no place in this world where God cannot accompany you and take care of you.

10. Even if you stumble, you will not fall

The Lord affirms the steps of man when his way of life pleases him; he may stumble, but he will not fall, because the Lord holds his hand.
(Psalm 37:23-24)

Obey God and he will strengthen your walk. You may stumble, but if you seek to please him in your heart and hold on to him, you will not fall because he will sustain you.

11. God never “throws in the towel”

My heart ached and my spirits bitter at my folly and ignorance. I behaved with you like a beast! But I am always with you, because you hold me by the right hand. You guide me with your advice, and later you will welcome me in glory.
(Psalm 73:21-24)

Many times we beat ourselves up for the stupid things we do. But remember that God never leaves you, he is always with you and sustains you. Pay attention so you can listen to his advice. You can live a satisfying earthly life and have the certainty that you will be with him forever.

12. Keep your eyes on the goal

Brethren, I don’t think I’ve done it myself. Rather, one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and striving for what is ahead, I keep moving towards the goal to win the prize that God offers through his heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 3:13-14)

Don’t focus on past mistakes. Look what is ahead, the goals that God puts in your heart and the great goal of eternal life with Christ Jesus. You will see how your perspective on life changes!

13. You can always take refuge in God

Good is the Lord;
It is refuge in the day of trouble,
and protector of those who trust in him.
(Nahum 1:7)

Take refuge in God when moments of difficulty and anguish come into your life. Being a child of God does not exempt you from pain, but you have the company, care and love of God that will strengthen you and help you move forward. The Lord is always near, ready to help you even in times of distress.

14. You are strong in God

The LORD is my light and my salvation;
who will I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life; Who am I to be afraid of?
(Psalm 27:1)

In God you have courage and strength. You are strong because Almighty God is with you! That security helps you overcome fear and move forward full of courage and faith, knowing that no matter what happens, God is in control and you can trust him.

15. Rest in the peace that God gives you

Peace I leave you; I give you my peace. I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not be distressed or cowered.
(John 14:27)

Instead of being carried away by anxiety, you can rest surrounded by the peace of God. His peace is lasting, renewing and covers all aspects of life. Receive today the peace that God wants to give you and face every circumstance with a heart full of courage and optimism.
